SEATTLE (May 20) Seattle Pacific
University earned the womens all-sports team title from the
Great Northwest Athletic Conference following a year in which the
Falcons claimed GNAC championships in four sports.
Seattle Pacific finished first in womens
cross country, soccer, indoor track & field and basketball,
and totaled 92 points. Western Washington, which won the mens
all-sports crown, was next with 84.
Combining mens and womens programs,
Western Washington won for the third year in a row, while SPU was
tied for third with Central Washington. The Falcon men were fifth.
Points are awarded (on a two-point increment)
based on the final conference finishes in each of the conferences
14 sports: football, volleyball, mens and womens
soccer, mens and womens cross country, mens and
womens basketball, mens and womens indoor track &
field, mens and womens outdoor track & field,
baseball and softball. Seattle Pacific fields teams in 11 of those
sports.
Western Oregon matched the falcons four
team titles. Western Washington won three.
