Mount Vernon Javelin Thrower Commits to Seattle Pacific

SEATTLE (April 30) – Lauren VerMulm, one of the top javelin throwers in the state from Mount Vernon, has signed a national letter of intent to compete in track & field for Seattle Pacific University.

VerMulm, in only her second season of throwing, has a best mark of 130 feet, 4 inches this spring. Last year she qualified for the state 4A championships with a throw of 124-4.

Seattle Pacific finished 16th in the2003 NCAA Division II Championships and won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference indoor title earlier this year. The Falcons have produced 19 past All-America javelin throwers.
