BELLINGHAM (Apr. 30) Seattle Pacific
University's Kristin Janney won the 100-meter hurdles in a
personal-best time and the Falcons won four events altogether at
the Western Washington Twilight track & field meet Friday
night at Viking Field.
In the final meet prior to the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference Championship next Saturday in Monmouth, Ore.,
Janney (Fr., White Salmon, Wa./Columbia) clocked a time of 15.28
seconds. She competed in five events, finishing fourth in both the
100 (13.07) and 200 (27.15).
Other victors for SPU included Eddie Strickler
(Fr., Richland, Wa.) in the men's 400 (50.04), Dianna Grossglass
(So., LaConner, Wa.) in the 400 hurdles (1:07.38) and Brandi McCoy
(Fr., Richland, Wa.) in the 800 (2:18.08). The time was a PR for
Grossglass and she also high-jumped 5 feet, 2 1/4 inches,
finishing third.
Elsewhere in the field events, Jennifer Urrutia
(Fr., Sunnyside, Wa.) threw the shot 35-3, placing third, and the
hammer 130-7 to take sixth. Both were season-best marks. Amy
Harris (So., Philomath, Or.) was runner-up in the pole vault at
10-11 3/4.
Many of the Falcons' frontline athletes took
the week off to rest and prepare for the conference meet. |
