Blake Third, Janney Fourth After Day One of GNAC Heptathlon

MONMOUTH, Ore. (Apr. 22) – Seattle Pacific University’s Linda Blake and Kristin Janney were in third and fourth place, respectively, after the first day of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference heptathlon while in the decathlon, the Falcons’ Dan Larimer (Fr., Libby, Mt.) stood sixth Thursday at McArthur Field.

Western Oregon’s Monica Smith is the heptathlon leader following four events, with 2823 points. The Wolves’ Bridget Johnson is next with 2812 and Blake (So., Richland, Wa.) has 2875.

Blake, the GNAC runner-up last year, achieved a personal-best mark in the 100-meter hurdles (15.02) and season-bests in the high jump (5-2 1/4), shot put (32-7 3/4) and 200 (27.05). Janney (Fr., White Salmon, Wa./Columbia) gota PR in the high jump (4-11 3/4) and a season-best time in the 200 (26.57).

The competition concludes Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 run.

Central Washington’s Cresap Watson was the first-day leader in the decathlon, with 3384 points after five events. Larimer totaled 2922.
