Bellingham Area Runner Commits to Seattle Pacific
April 20, 2004

SEATTLE (April 20) – Karin Rohde, a standout distance runner from Deming’s Mount Baker High School, has signed national letter of intent to compete in cross country and track at Seattle Pacific University.

Rohde, a resident of Bellingham, took third place in last fall’s Washington 2A cross country championships after winning her district crown. Her best state finish was runner-up as a sophomore, when the Mountaineers claimed the 2A title. Rohde was fourth as a junior and fifth as a freshman.

On the track, Rohde has regularly finished among the top five in the state. She scored in three events at the 2003 state track championships, taking fourth place in the 1600 meters and fifth in both the 800 and 3200. Rohde also made the finals of the 1600 (fifth) and 3200 (fourth) as a sophomore and in the 1600 (third) as a freshman.

Seattle Pacific won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference cross country championship in 2003 and won the GNAC indoor track championship earlier this year. The Falcons are unbeaten in scored meets outdoors this spring.
