SEATTLE (April 20) Karin Rohde, a
standout distance runner from Demings Mount Baker High
School, has signed national letter of intent to compete in cross
country and track at Seattle Pacific University.
Rohde, a resident of Bellingham, took third
place in last falls Washington 2A cross country
championships after winning her district crown. Her best state
finish was runner-up as a sophomore, when the Mountaineers claimed
the 2A title. Rohde was fourth as a junior and fifth as a
freshman.
On the track, Rohde has regularly finished
among the top five in the state. She scored in three events at the
2003 state track championships, taking fourth place in the 1600
meters and fifth in both the 800 and 3200. Rohde also made the
finals of the 1600 (fifth) and 3200 (fourth) as a sophomore and in
the 1600 (third) as a freshman.
Seattle Pacific won the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference cross country championship in 2003 and won the
GNAC indoor track championship earlier this year. The Falcons are
unbeaten in scored meets outdoors this spring.
