Seattle Pacific Women Finish Highest Ever at No. 3
March 31, 2004

SEATTLE (Mar. 31) – The finest season for Seattle Pacific University women’s basketball was reaffirmed by the Falcons’ highest finish in a final national poll.

Seattle Pacific is No. 3 in the final NCAA Division II poll of coaches by USA Today/ESPN/WBCA. SPU finished with a record of 30-1, the sole loss coming in the Elite Eight quarterfinal versus Drury, the eventual national runner-up.

California (Pa.) claimed the NCAA championship by beating Drury 75-72. The Vulcans were the No. 1 team in the poll.

Seattle Pacific still earned three first-place votes. The best previous final ranking was No. 6 in 1998 and in 2003. Only two starters graduate from this year’s squad.

Below is the USA TODAY/ESPN/WBCA Top 25 women's basketball poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, total points based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
