SACRAMENTO (Mar. 27) Seattle Pacific
University freshman Jennifer Marsh improved her own national
qualifying time in winning the 800 meters and the Falcons' Sara
Johnson won her third javelin title at the Hornet Invitational
Saturday at Hornet Stadium.
Marsh (Fr., Kirkland, Wa./Juanita) picked up
her second win of the outdoor campaign in 2 minutes 13.41 seconds.
It was 0.41 seconds better than her sixth-place time at Stanford
Friday. Chico State's Vanessa Hanen was runner-up in 2:16.66.
Johnson (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) flung the javelin
140 feet, 5 inches. Missy Vanek was second at 138-8. Karen Dickson
(Fr., El Dorado Hills, Ca.) ran third in the 5000 in 18:26.01.
The best other finishes came from Molly
Hornbuckle (Fr., Burien, Wa./Highline), who was sixth in the
javelin (126-0), Janna Schaafsma (So., Soldotna, Ak.) in the
women's 400 hurdles (1:05.32) and Micah Kellcy (Sr., Lakewood,
Wa./Clover Park), sixth in the men's 400 hurdles (56.28).
Next Saturday the Falcons compete at the
Vernacchia Invitational in Bellingham.
