Falcons' Mach Moves Into NCAA 800 Indoor Final
March 12, 2004

BOSTON (Mar. 12) – Paul Mach of Seattle Pacific University advanced to Saturday’s 800-meter final of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.

In Friday night’s prelim, Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King’s) earned the ninth and final qualifying spot in the final after a fellow runner was disqualified for bumping him in the final turn. Holding the lead going into the final 100 meters, Mach was fouled by Mankato State’s Pat Lehman. Mach was timed in 1:53.40.

In the women’s 800 prelim, the Falcons’ Jennifer Marsh (Fr., Kirkland, Wa./Juanita) took 11th overall, missing the cut by two spots. Marsh, the only freshman in the race, was timed in 2:14.30–nearly two seconds off her school record set last month.

In addition to Mach, pole vaulter Ally Studer (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) will be involved in an event final Saturday.
