SAN JOSE, Ca. (Feb. 14)Debra Huss
finished first on balance beam as Seattle Pacific University
tumbled a season high team score but lost a womens
gymnastics meet to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe San Jose
State 194.175 to 192.150 Saturday night in San Jose.
The Falcons notched season high team marks on
beam and floor exercise, earning 48.650 and 48.675, on each. Huss
(Fr., Orangevale, Ca.) negotiated the four-inch wide beam to a
9.850 to land her atop the podium at nights end while
teammate Annastasia Ahr (Sr., San Antonio, Tx.) tied for second
with San Joses Greta Leach (9.825).
On the uneven bars, Melissa Stanton (Sr., Rapid
City, SD) swung a second place 9.7. The Falcons did not fare
particularly well on the unevens; their team total ended at a
season low 46.850.
All-America vaulter Kari Kelly (Jr., Yakima,
Wa.) launched a 9.650 tie for third with the Spartans Greta Leach
and Corrie McDaniel (Jr., Lawrence, Ks.), a two-time All-American
all-arounder, danced a third place 9.850 on floor exercise.
McDaniel finished in fourth place in a tight all-around contest,
totaling 38.200 over four events. Jennifer Greene won the
all-around with a 38.900.
Seattle Pacific enjoys a weeks rest
before it takes to the road Feb. 27, to face off with Cal State
Fullerton and UC Davis. The Falcons' last home meet is Mar. 8
versus Washington.
