Falcon Women Climb to No. 3 in D-II Poll
February 10, 2004

SEATTLE (Feb. 10) – Seattle Pacific University has climbed another step closer to the top of NCAA Division II women’s basketball. The unbeaten Falcons moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week’s USA Today/ESPN poll conducted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

SPU (20-0, 11-0 GNAC), one of two remaining undefeated teams, received one first-place vote. California (Pa.) collected 21 first-place votes and stayed at No. 1 while Drury (Mo.) moved to No. 2. Emporia State (Ks.) fell to No. 4 after suffering its first loss last week. Cal State Bakersfield, which moved up one spot to No. 23, is the only other West Region team in the USA TODAY/ESPN poll.

Seattle Pacific looks to extend its 53-game regular season win streak Thursday when it hosts Alaska Anchorage in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference matchup at Brougham Pavilion.

Top 25 women's basketball poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, total points based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
