SEATTLE (Feb. 10) Seattle Pacific
University has climbed another step closer to the top of NCAA
Division II womens basketball. The unbeaten Falcons moved up
one spot to No. 3 in this weeks USA Today/ESPN poll
conducted by the Womens Basketball Coaches Association.
SPU (20-0, 11-0 GNAC), one of two remaining
undefeated teams, received one first-place vote. California (Pa.)
collected 21 first-place votes and stayed at No. 1 while Drury
(Mo.) moved to No. 2. Emporia State (Ks.) fell to No. 4 after
suffering its first loss last week. Cal State Bakersfield, which
moved up one spot to No. 23, is the only other West Region team in
the USA TODAY/ESPN poll.
Seattle Pacific looks to extend its 53-game
regular season win streak Thursday when it hosts Alaska Anchorage
in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference matchup at Brougham
Pavilion.
