Studer Vaults to First at Washington Track and Field Open, Randolph Wins Long Jump
February 2, 2004

SEATTLE, Wa. (Feb. 1)—Ally Studer of Seattle Pacific University improved on her NCAA Division II Provisional qualifying mark as she won pole vault Sunday afternoon at the Washington Open at Dempsey Indoor.

Studer (Sr., Redmond, Wa.) cleared the bar at 11-9 ¾ to beat the competition. The mark was the best pole vault performance by a Great Northwest Athletic Conference athlete in 2004, and the provisional improvement should bring Studer closer to earning a trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor national meet in Boston in mid-March.

Decathlete Chris Randolph (So., Lone-Tree, Co.) long jumped to a first place 22-5, and later finished third in the 800 (1:57.51) after winning the open section of the Men’s High Jump one day earlier at the Washington Invitational.

Sprinter Kinyatta Leonhardt (Fr., Petaluma, Ca./St. Vincent) finished fourth in the women's 200 (26.34) to post a conference-best time and ran third leg on the winning SPU women’s 4 x 400 meter relay (4:01.50).

The Falcons compete next at the UW Indoor Open No. 3, on February 15.
