NAMPA, Id. (Jan. 29) Brittney Kroon had
a record 13 blocks and just missed a triple-double as the No. 4
Seattle Pacific University womens basketball team beat
Northwest Nazarene 99-80 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference
action on Thursday.
Kroons (So., 6-4, Wasilla, Ak.) total is
an SPU and GNAC record, as well as the best single-game total this
winter among Division II players. It equals the sixth-best total
all-time since the NCAA started keeping track of the statistic in
1993. The all-time record is 20. Kroon led seven Falcons (17-0,
8-0 GNAC) in double figures with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Seattle Pacific has now won 50 straight regular
season games and 32 consecutive conference contests.
Michelle Beaumont (Jr., 5-11, Bellingham,
Wa./Sehome) and Mandy Wood (So., 5-7, Port Angeles, Wa.) scored 16
points apiece for SPU. Valerie Gustafson (Sr., 6-0, Olympia,
Wa./Black Hills), Kristin Poe (Sr., 5-8, Enumclaw, Wa./Enumclaw)
and Jenny Poe (So., 5-8, Enumclaw, Wa./Enumclaw-Portland State)
each had 12 while Amy Taylor (Jr., 5-8, Shoreline,
Wa./Shorewood-Oregon) added 11 points and eight assists.
The Falcons shot a season-high 63 percent
(43-for-68) from the field, including 11-for-21 (.524) from
three-point range, while holding the Crusaders (7-9, 3-5 GNAC) to
36 percent. SPU also outrebounded NNU 43-28.
Northwest Nazarene was led by Jenny Binfords
26 points while Danielle Pridgen added 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The Falcons next travel to Saint Martins
on Saturday in a battle of the top two teams in the GNAC.
