Undefeated Seattle Pacific Now No. 4 in Women's Hoops
January 27, 2004

SEATTLE (Jan. 27) – Continuing its methodical climb up the NCAA Division II women’s basketball rankings, Seattle Pacific University is now No. 4 in this week’s coaches poll conducted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

The Falcons (16-0) remain one of four remaining undefeated teams. They moved up one place from No. 5 following a loss by North Dakota. SPU received two first-place votes. It has risen at least one spot in each of the seven weekly polls after being ranked No. 22 in the preseason. Seattle Pacific ended last season with five consecutive weeks at No. 1.

California (Pa.) collected 21 first-place votes and remains No. 1, ahead of Emporia State (Ks.) and Drury (Mo.). Cal State Bakersfield, at No. 20, is the only other West Region team in the USA TODAY/ESPN poll.

SPU tries to extend it string of 49 straight regular season wins Thursday when it visits Northwest Nazarene in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game in Nampa, Id.

Top 25 women's basketball poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, total points based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
