SACRAMENTO, Ca. (Jan. 23)Binta Coleman
won three individual events and the all-around competition as
Sacramento State out-tumbled Seattle Pacific University 194.025 to
189.350 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation womens
gymnastics meet Friday night at Hornet Gym.
Coleman started the night with a third place
vault (9.725) and won every event that followed. The all-arounder
finished the four apparatus competition with 39.250 and led a Sac
State sweep as teammates Nirvana Zaher finished second (38.950)
and Jessica Hoffman, third (38.225). The Falcons Debra Huss
(Fr., Orangevale, Ca.) was fourth in the all-around with 36.875.
Melissa Stanton (Sr., Rapid City, SD)
negotiated the balance beam to earn a season high 9.750, and a
three-way tie for second place with the Hornets Trista
Condren and Zaher. Huss danced a third place 9.8 on floor exercise
to round out Seattle Pacifics podium finishes.
SPUs Kari Kelly (Jr., Yakima, Wa.)
launched a fourth place 9.675 vault and Corrie McDaniel (Jr.,
Lawrence, Ks.) notched a fifth place finish in the all-around with
36.300.
Seattle Pacific drops to 0-3 on the season and
will return to Seattle for a two meet home stand beginning Jan.
30, against MPSF opponent San Jose State. Official start time is
scheduled for 7PM.
