DAVIS, Ca. (Jan. 22)Debra Huss won
balance beam and floor exercise but it was not enough to lift
Seattle PacificUniversity over UC Davis as the Falcons dropped
their second consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation
gymnastics meet 191.125 to 190.375 Thursday night at Recreation
Hall in Davis.
Seattle Pacific hit a season high 48.075 on the
balance beam as three athletes landed scores 9.5 or higher but
struggled on the uneven bars, swinging a dismal 46.925.
Huss (Fr., Orangevale, Ca.) was SPUs top
finisher on beam and negotiated the six-inch plank for a career
high 9.825. The freshman hit a 9.775 on floor exercise en route to
second place honors in the all-around competition. Huss finished
second to Davis Tiffany Chan with 37.525. Chan totaled
38.400 over four events. SPU gymnast Corrie McDaniel (Jr.,
Lawrence, Ks.) finished third with 36.550.
The Falcons Annastasia Ahr (Sr., San
Antonio, Tx.) swung SPUs top finish on the uneven bars, a
9.575 three-way tie with Davis Nickie Bykhovsky and Arianne
Furman. Teammate Kari Kelly (Jr., Yakima, Wa.) landed her vault to
earn a tie for third place with the Aggies Megan Nakagawa.
Both athletes scored 9.575. Kelly is a returning All-American on
vault.
Seattle Pacific (0-2) tumbles next at
Sacramento State Friday night (Jan. 23, 7PM), and returns to
Seattle for a two-meet home stand beginning Jan. 30.
