Falcon Men Square Conference Record With 83-68 Road Win

NAMPA, Id. (Jan. 17) - Tony Binetti scored all eight of his points in the decisive second-half run and Jordan Lee had 19 points as Seattle Pacific University earned its biggest road win of the season, 83-68 over Northwest Nazarene in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men¹s basketball game Saturday night at Montgomery Fieldhouse.

The Falcons (3-3, 7-8) broke the game open with a 20-6 run in the second period, when they shot 57 percent from the field. Jason Chivers (Jr., 6-8, Los Angeles, Ca.) got his ninth double double in his last 10 outings, with 14 rebounds and 10 points. He also blocked four shots.

Binetti (So., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) connected on a pair of three-pointers and also converted a layup off his own steal as a five-point lead swelled to 71-52 with 10 minutes left and 22 points with under three minutes remaining.

The Crusaders (2-3, 7-6), who shot just 42 percent , lost for the eighth time in the last nine meetings with Seattle Pacific. Daniel Nyom paced NNU with 16 points.

Lee (Jr., 6-2, Tacoma, Wa./Life Christian) scored 11 in the first half. He shot 9-14 overall. Although SPU led by as much as 10, it held just a 45-41 advantage at the break.

Seattle Pacific committed a season-low six turnovers and converted 19 of 20 free throws. It finished 28-55 from the floor (51 percent). The bench accounted for 30 points, with Ralph Steele (Jr., 6-2, N. Birmingham, Al.) netting 10 and Mike Bushmaker (So., 6-7, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) eight.

The Falcons are back in Brougham Pavilion for Homecoming week, beginning Thursday night against Central Washington.
