SPU Women Begin New Year at No. 8, Unbeaten
January 6, 2004

SEATTLE (Jan. 6) – When Seattle Pacific University returns from a 19-day break from play Thursday evening, the Falcons will be one of seven remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division II and ranked No. 8.

Seattle Pacific’s 10-0 record and run of 43 straight regular season wins will be tested by arch-rival Western Washington at 5:30 in Brougham Pavilion. The Vikings are the last Great Northwest Athletic Conference team to defeat SPU. Since then, the Falcons have won 25 in a row in the GNAC.

The ranking is an improvement of one spot since the last USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, conducted Dec. 16. California (Pa.) took over at No. 1, replacing North Dakota.

The only other West Region team in the top 25 is Cal State Bakersfield at No. 21.
