SEATTLE (Dec. 15) Shannon Lovejoy and
Jennifer Hull became Seattle Pacific Universitys first
All-America selections in womens soccer as Lovejoy made the
second team and Hull the third, as selected by the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America.
Lovejoy
(So., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep), a midfielder, established a new
school record for goals and led the Great Northwest Athletic
Conference with 17 goals and 38 points.
Hull
(Jr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) was the NCAA Division II goalkeeping
leader in goals-against average (0.30) and led the GNAC with 12
shutouts. Earlier she and Lovejoy had been voted both first team
all-region and all-GNAC.
I am so proud of Shannon and
Jennifer and our entire program. Our team accomplished a great
deal this season, said Coach Chuck Sekyra. And the
best part is that we have such a great group coming back next
year. The Falcons graduate just one senior.
Only in its third season of play and its first
under Sekyra, Seattle Pacific won its second straight conference
championship, qualified for the NCAA playoffs and finished 17-2-2
and ranked No. 23 in the nation.
Two other Far West Region players, from Cal
State Dominguez Hills and UC San Diego, were named to the NSCAA
second team.
