KIRKLAND, Wa. (Dec. 13) -- The No. 10 Seattle
Pacific womens basketball team pushed its regular-season win
streak to 41 games with a 92-48 non-conference win over Northwest
College on Saturday night in Kirkland. The Falcons (8-0) have won
all 22 meetings between the teams.
SPU used a balanced scoring attack as five
players were in double figures, led by Mandy Woods (So.,
5-6, Port Angeles, Wa.) 16 points. Valerie Gustafson (Sr., 6-0,
Olympia, Wa./Black Hills) had 13 points, Kristin Poe (Sr., 5-8,
Enumclaw, Wa.) and Brittney Kroon (So., 6-4, Wasilla, Ak.) scored
12 apiece and Amy Taylor (Jr., 5-8, Shoreline,
Wa./Shorewood-Oregon) added 10.
After leading by 12 at halftime (42-30), SPU
started the second half on an 18-2 run to put the game out of
reach. The Falcons held the Eagles (3-6) to 30 percent shooting
for the game and allowed just 18 points in the second half.
SPU, which shot 52 percent from the field, also
won the battle of the boards (44-32) as Kristin Poe pulled down a
game-high nine rebounds.
Jenny DeYoung, Kristin Boyd and Kelly Clarke
each scored 10 points to lead Northwest.
The Falcons travel to Los Angeles next weekend
to play in the CCAA/GNAC Challenge. SPU plays Cal State L.A. on
Friday (Dec. 19) then takes on Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday (Dec.
20).
