Falcon Women Break Into Top 10 of NCAA Hoop Poll

SEATTLE (Dec. 9) -- Seattle Pacific University has broken into the top 10 of the NCAA Division II women's basketball rankings for the first time this season.

The unbeaten Falcons (6-0) moved up three places to No. 10 in the USA Today/ESPN poll, conducted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. They took advantage of top losses among last week's top 10 by beating Central Washington (71-61) and Chico State (88-71), now ranked No. 22. Seattle Pacific finished last season ranked eighth nationally after holding the No. 1 position for five weeks

SPU will face Warner Pacific in a non-conference game in Portland Friday night. It visits Northwest College Saturday at 5:30.

South Dakota State remains No. 1 in the rankings. The only other West Region team mentioned in the poll, besides SPU and Chico is Cal State Bakersfield at No. 12.
