SPU Women Vault 9 Spots to No. 13 in Hoop Poll

SEATTLE (Dec. 2) – Seattle Pacific University jumped nine spots to No. 13 in the first regular season rankings for NCAA Division II women’s basketball.

The unbeaten Falcons (4-0) had been No. 22 in the USA Today/ESPN preseason poll, conducted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. SPU will face Central Washington in its Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener Thursday night and it hosts No. 23 Chico State Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

South Dakota State remains No. 1 in the rankings but three top-10 teams suffered at least one defeat in the first three weeks of the season.

The only other west Region team mentioned in the poll, besides SPU and Chico, is Cal State Bakersfield at No. 16.
