SEATTLE (Nov. 15) -- Jessica Bauder's 19 kills
and four service aces was not enough to carry the Seattle Pacific
University women's volleyball team to victory as Alaska Anchorage
won the final match of the season for both teams 29-30, 30-25,
30-25, 30-26 in a Great Northwest Athletic conference showdown
Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.
The Falcons (8-10, 15-10) won the first game
and appeared bound for victory in game two before the momentum
shifted in favor of the Seawolves (10-8, 16-10). Anchorage rallied
from 10-15 deficit in game two and an 15-18 gap in the third game
to win both key games and eventually seal the match.
Bauder (Jr., Richland, Wa./Col. Basin) started
the evening with a hot hand, recording eight kills and just one
error in 14 attacks through game one. She finished the match with
a .261 hitting percentage as she furthered her case for GNAC
Newcomer of the Year billing.
Chelsey Myers (So., Minden, Nv./Douglas)
recorded a pair of blocks, eight kills, and three service aces to
help pace the Falcons. Andrea Pennington (Sr., Bellingham,
Wa./Whatcom CC) led the Falcons from the backline with 18 digs.
O'Lita McWilliams and Mindy Cason led the
Seawolves with a combined 56 kills.
