SPU Women's Basketball Signs Two Recruits Early
November 12, 2003

SEATTLE (Nov. 12) – Quinn Brewe of Lynnwood’s Meadowdale High School and Lexi Schaar of Minnesota’s Crookston High School have signed national letters of intent to play women’s basketball at Seattle Pacific University beginning in 2004.

Brewe averaged 15.9 points and 10.3 rebounds and helped lead Meadowdale to a fourth-place finish at the Class 3A state tournament. She was second team all-Wesco despite missing 12 midseason games with a knee injury. The Mavericks were fifth in her sophomore season and fourth in 2001. The 6-foot-1 power forward holds the school single game rebound record of 20.

Schaar is a 6-4 center who earned all section honors as a junior while averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots per game. She holds all of Crookston’s records for blocks and is No. 8 in career scoring going into her senior season.

Seattle Pacific was 29-1 and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion in 2003. The Falcons, coached by Gordy Presnell, are ranked No. 22 in the NCAA Division II preseason poll and open the season Nov. 21 by hosting UC San Diego.
