SEATTLE, Wa. (Nov. 8)Kristy Carstensen
registered 12 kills and had three solo blocks as 4th-ranked
Western Washington University swept Seattle Pacific 30-26, 30-21,
30-21, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference womens
volleyball match Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.
With the victory, Western (16-0/22-1) pushed
their conference win-streak to 52 matches, the fourth longest
conference string in NCAA Division II history. Overall, the
Vikings have won 22 straight.
Carstensen hit a .219 attacking percentage and
managed an assist on five blocks. The middle blockers dozen
kills was a match high followed closely by teammates Jamie
Petersen and Brianna Murray, and Seattle Pacifics Katy
Kravitz (Sr., Olympia, Wa./N. Colorado) with 10. Western hit .218
as a team.
Kravitz paced the Falcons (7-9/14-9) on the
offensive end with help from teammates Jessica Bauder (Jr.,
Richland, Wa./Richland-Col. Basin CC) and Whitney Dibble (Fr.,
Reno, Nv./Galena) at nine kills apiece. As a team, the Falcons hit
a dismal .098.
Defensively, Westerns Nicola Parker dug
out a match-high 24 balls. SPUs Kathleen Monda (Jr.,
Woodinville, Wa./Woodinville-Washington State) racked up 20 digs.
Seattle Pacific takes to the court Friday night
(Nov. 14) against GNAC foe Alaska Fairbanks. The last home match
of 2003 is Saturday (Nov. 15) versus Anchorage. First serve both
nights is scheduled for 7 oclock.
