SPU Women Ranked 22nd in Preseason Basketball Poll
November 7, 2003

SEATTLE (Nov. 7) – A year ago they started out 15th and eventually reached No. 1 by the end of the regular season. In 2003-04, the women’s basketball team at Seattle Pacific University has been given seven more rungs to climb.

The Falcons are rated No. 22 among NCAA Division II teams in the USA Today/ESPN poll conducted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. Earlier they were installed as the favorite to win the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Seattle Pacific, which was 29-1 last year, opens the season Nov. 21 by hosting UC San Diego. Chico State, ranked 25th, visits Brougham Pavilion Dec. 6. The only other West Region team mentioned is Cal State Bakersfield at No. 21.

The first regular season poll will be released Dec. 2.
