NAMPA, Id. (Oct. 25)Michelle Sanders
scored twice to push 13th-ranked Seattle Pacific University over
Northwest Nazarene 4-1, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference
womens soccer match Saturday in Nampa.
With the win, Seattle Pacific (14-1-2)/8-0-1)
boosted its school record unbeaten streak to 14 games with three
left to play in the regular season. The Falcons are perched in
first place in the GNAC and are ranked third in the Far West
Region. The top four teams will earn NCAA playoff berths in
mid-November.
Sanders (Jr., Centralia, Wa.) opened up scoring
in the match with assistance from Heidi Jacobson (So., Bothell,
Wa./Cedar Park Christian-Gonzaga) and garnered an assist of her
own on a Shannon Lovejoy (So., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep.) strike
at 9:08. Sanders and Jacobson hooked up again at 33:25 to make it
3-0 Falcons at the half.
Jessica Henson (Jr., Spokane, Wa./University)
beat NNU keeper Shauna Voss to the back of the net at 71:03 for
the final margin. Allison Teague (So., Redmond, Wa./Bellevue
Christian-Santa Clara) earned an assist on the play.
The Crusaders Emily Schrepple scored
Northwest Nazarenes only goal and in doing so, broke the SPU
defenses six match scoreless streak. NNU registered seven
shots to SPUs eight and Falcon keeper Jennifer Hull (Jr.,
Eugene, Or./Sheldon) made eight saves in the match. Voss finished
with 10.
The Falcons return to Seattle for their last
regular season home contest of the year against Humboldt State
(Oct. 30). Kick-off is scheduled for 7PM.
