MONMOUTH, Ore. (Oct. 18) -- Western Oregon got
22 kills from Kim Tower and held Seattle Pacific University's
outside hitters in check to beat the Falcons in four games in a
Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's volleyball match
Saturday night .
The Wolves (4-7, 9-10) also got 17 kills from
Samantha Salsgiver to snap a three-match losing streak, 30-20,
27-30, 30-23 and 30-26.
Katie Ralph (So., Port Orchard, Wa./S. Kitsap)
was the sole source of offense for SPU, hitting for 15 kills on 33
attempts and adding three blocks. It was the sixth loss in seven
GNAC road outings for Seattle Pacific (5-6, 12-6).
The team's top two attacking threats, Chelsey
Myers (So., Minden, Nv.) and Jessica Bauder (Jr., Richland, Wa.),
managed to combine for just 11 kills against 15 errors. Overall,
SPU hit .142 with only 49 kills against 24 errors. Bauder did lead
the squad with three service aces.
Western Oregon dug out 89 balls, including 21
by tiffany Mapston and 19 by Tower, who hit .362. Tiffany Butac
(Fr., Pearl City, Hi.) had a season-high 22 digs for the Falcons.
SPU returns home to host Northwest Nazarene
Friday night at Brougham Pavilion.
