MONMOUTH, Or. (Oct. 11)--Heidi Jacobson scored
her fifth goal of the season mid-way through the first half to
lift Seattle Pacific University (10-1-2/6-0-1) to a 1-0 shutout
over Western Oregon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference
women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at WOU Soccer Field.
Jacobson (So., Bothell, Wa./Cedar Park
Christian/Gonzaga) struck open net with assistance from teammate
Michelle Sanders (Jr., Centralia, Wa.) in the 33rd minute for the
game's only goal.
The Falcons (10-1-2/6-0-1) are undefeated in
conference play and unbeaten in their last 10 outings. The loss
dropped Western Oregon to 9-9-0, 2-5-0 and won SPU its first ever
victory in Monmouth. Seattle Pacific out shot the Wolves 11-9, and
held a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The SPU defense registered its tenth shutout of
the year and keeper Jennifer Hull (Jr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) saved
four balls.
The Falcons enjoy a brief rest before heading
to Phoenix, Arizona to take on Grand Canyon (Oct. 18) and Cal
State San Bernardino (Oct. 20) in a pair of non-conference
matches. Kickoffs are schedule for 5PM and 12PM, respectively.
