October 11, 2003

BELLINGHAM, WASH (Oct. 11) – It took little more than an hour for the Seattle Pacific University women’s volleyball team to fall 25-30, 17-30, 22-30 at the hands of No. 4-ranked Western Washington University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match Saturday night at Sam Carver Gymnasium.

The loss snaps a two-match unbeaten streak for the Falcons (11-5, 4-5), while the Vikings (15-1, 9-0) maintain their solo perch atop the GNAC. The 0-3 sweep, which came in just 79 minutes, is the second for the Falcons this season.

Katie Ralph (So., Port Orchard, Wa./S. Kitsap) led the SPU offense with nine kills and zero errors for a remarkable .429 hitting percentage. Andrea Pennington (Sr., Bellingham, Wa./Whatcom CC) led the Falcons from the backline with 14 of the team’s 62 digs overall.

For the Vikings, Megan Evoy and Jamie Peterson combined for 27 kills, supported by Liz Bishop who recorded 41 assists.

The Falcons continue their season-long three-match road trip this Thursday, Oct. 16 at Humboldt State.
