headed in a pair of second half corner kicks to push Seattle
Pacific University past Central Washington 4-0 in a Great
Northwest Athletic Conference womens soccer match Wednesday
night at Interbay Stadium.
With the victory, the Falcons improve to 8-1-2
(4-0-1 GNAC). Seattle Pacific has not lost in its last eight games
and has won 11 straight at Interbay.
A sophomore midfielder, Lovejoy (Seattle,
Wa./Seattle Prep.) scored her team leading sixth and seventh goals
of the year off a pair of late corner kicks. The first was a
Jessica Henson (Jr., Spokane, Wa./University) serve from the right
corner (71:53).
Lovejoys second strike came via the left
corner from the foot of fellow midfielder Megan Lienhard (So.,
Everett, Wa./Cascade). Lovejoy headed the ball in traffic from
12-yards out past Central keeper Jillyan Boyer into the net on the
left side (78:19).
Heidi Jacobson (So., Bothell, Wa./Cedar Park
Christian/Gonzaga) opened up scoring in the match with her fourth
goal of the season at 18:23 with a 14 yard strike. Theresa Morelli
(Fr., Bellevue, Wa./Bellevue Christian) hit net at 67:44 off a
rebounded Lovejoy miss.
The Falcons out shot Central 16-4 and held a
5-0 advantage on corner kicks. Boyer registered seven saves in the
match and SPUs Jennifer Hull (Jr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon)
earned a pair en route to her eighth shutout.
Seattle Pacific enjoys a rare week off until it
hosts the GNACs Western Washington next Thursday (Oct. 9).
