Seattle Pacific Women Tie Chico State in Non-Conference Women's Soccer
September 27, 2003

CHICO, Ca. (Sept. 27)--Mollie Taylor knotted the game at one late in the second half but neither Seattle Pacific University nor Chico State could muster a golden goal, ending the match at 1-1 OT, in a non-conference soccer match Saturday night in Chico.

Play was relatively even through the first half until the Wildcats' Amy Swanson opened up scoring with an unassisted, left-footed second half strike from 20 yards out at 81:50.

Just a minute and a half later, Taylor (Fr., Westlake Village, Ca./Oaks Christian) received a looping right-side cross from the foot of teammate Briana Murphy (So., Ferndale, Wa.). Taylor controlled the ball in traffic and hit open net (83:12).

Neither squad could hit a winner in overtime although both teams had a pair of close calls. With just under five minutes to play in the second overtime period, the Wildcats' Jessica Parker ripped a shot just over the SPU crossbar.

Chico State (5-4-2) held a 13-11 shot advantage over the Falcons but SPU rallied for eight corner kicks to the Wildcats' five.

Seattle Pacific keeper Jennifer Hull (Jr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) saved four balls in the match. Chico's Angela Orr registered three.

The Falcons (7-1-2) return to Seattle and resume Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a match against Central Washington on Wednesday (Oct. 1). Kick-off is scheduled for 7o'clock.
