SEATTLE (Sept. 20) --- Led by a solid
all-around match from junior Jessica Bauder, the Seattle Pacific
University volleyball team beat Humboldt State 30-23, 23-30,
30-28, 30-26 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action
Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion. With the win, the Falcons
(9-2, 2-2) remain undefeated at home this season (5-0).
After taking the first game, SPU dropped the
second to the Lumberjacks (3-9, 1-3) and was on the brink of
losing the third before mounting an amazing comeback. Down 10
points, the Falcons hit .371 to climb back in it and win the third
game.
Bauder (Jr., Richland, Wa./Columbia Basin CC)
slammed a match-high 17 kills while hitting .317 and also led SPU
with 20 digs. Teammate Katy Kravitz (Sr., Olympia, Wa./N.
Colorado) served up five aces for the Falcons while Chelsey Myers
(So., Minden, Nv./Douglas) added 14 digs.
Humboldt State's Julia Shaw led the Jacks with
12 kills and Kandis Benton had 22 digs.
SPU next travels across town to play Seattle
University at 7 p.m. Thursday.
