BELLINGHAM, Wa. (Sept. 18)Despite a 16-6
shot advantage over a marathon 120 minutes of play, Seattle
Pacific University tied Great Northwest Athletic Conference foe
Western Washington 0-0 OT, in a womens soccer match Thursday
night at Civic Stadium. The Falcons are now 6-1-1 overall, 2-0-1
GNAC.
The match marked the third time in five
meetings the two rivals have gone to overtime to decide a womens
soccer match and the first time the Vikings did not lose to SPU.
Viking keeper Teresa Fish registered six saves
in the match and SPUs Jennifer Hull (Jr., Eugene,
Or./Sheldon) tallied a pair.
The Falcons earned a half-dozen corner kicks to
the Vikings one. Michelle Everson (So., Tacoma,
Wa./Stadium), Megan Lienhard (So., Everett, Wa./Cascade) and
Shannon Lovejoy (So., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep.) each took three
shots.
SPU travels to California for its next two
contests. Thursdays kickoff against GNAC foe Humboldt State
is scheduled for 4PM and Saturdays match-up with the
California Collegiate Athletic Conferences Chico State
begins at 7PM.
Seattle Pacific returns home where it has won
nine consecutive matches to meet with Central Washington in a GNAC
match October 1.
