SPU Volleyball Team Falls to Alaska-Fairbanks
September 13, 2003

FAIRBANKS, AK (Sept. 13) -- Despite a team-high 20 kills from Chelsey Myers, the Seattle Pacific University volleyball team lost 30-24, 26-30, 28-30, 21-30 to Alaska-Fairbanks on Saturday night. It was the second setback in a row for the Falcons (7-2, 0-2).

After SPU won the first game, Fairbanks (4-3, 1-1) stormed back to win the next three. Jessica Bauder (Jr., Richland, Wa./Col. Basin) led the Falcons' defensive effort with a match-high 23 digs while teammate Andrea Pennington (Sr., Bellingham, Wa./Whatcom) totaled 19 digs. Myers (So., Minden, Nv./Douglas) added 17 digs and a pair of service aces.

Mallory Bergstrom had 22 kills and 19 digs to lead Fairbanks.

The Falcons return home to face Western Oregon and Humboldt State at Brougham Pavilion next Friday and Saturday.
