September 8, 2003

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Sept. 8) -- Held scoreless for the third time in its first four games, Seattle Pacific University lost its fourth straight game, 1-0 to Cal State San Bernardino Monday night.

The Falcons (0-4-0) fell behind after 26 minutes and despite a flurry of chances in the final 10 minutes could not draw even with the Coyotes (3-1-0). SPU fired 11 of its 15 shots and earned all eight of its corner kicks in the second half.

John Richardson scored the game's only goal as a 50-yard ball over the top of the defense beat the offside trap. Richardson went 1-on-1 with SPU goalie James Ward and scored from 18 yards at 25:22. Ward, who made four saves, came out of the nets to play forward during the final 12 minutes.
