SEATTLE (Sept. 5) -- Jessica Bauder (Jr.,
Richland, Wa./Col. Basin) slammed 25 kills to lead the Seattle
Pacific University volleyball team past UC Davis 24-30, 30-22,
30-19, 30-26 Friday night at the SPU/Comfort Suites Classic at
Brougham Pavilion.
The Falcons (5-0) won their fifth straight
match to start the season behind a 3-0 rally over the Aggies (3-1)
who were handed their first loss thus far.
Bauder attempted 67 attacks and finished with a
.239 hitting percentage. Kathleen Monda (Jr., Woodinville,
Wa./WSU) recorded 12 kills while Katie Ralph (So., Port Orchard,
Wa./E. Tenn.) and Chelsey Myers (So., Minden, Nv./Douglas) notched
11 and 10, respectively.
Ralph committed just one error to lead the
Falcons with a .500 hitting mark. Katy Higgins (Jr., Kirkland,
Wa./Redmond) led the Falcons with a match-high 52 assists.
Six Falcons reached double-figures in digs
while holding the Aggies to a .083 hitting percentage following
the first game. Andrea Pennington (Sr., Bellingham, Wa./Whatcom)
led the defensive effort with 23 digs. In earlier action, Western
Washington blanked Cal State Dominguez Hills 30-13, 30-20, 30-20
behind 10 kills from Megan Evoy and nine from Jamie Petersen and
Kristy Carstensen.
