SPU Women's Basketball Program Nets Two Transfers with Local Roots
September 4, 2003

SEATTLE (Sept. 4) - Seattle Pacific University's women's basketball program has added two Division I transfers-Oregon guard Amy Taylor and Portland State guard Jenny Poe-for the upcoming season.

Taylor, a 5-foot-7 point guard from Shoreline and Shorewood High School, averaged 4.0 points in 24 games as a sophomore, when she was named the Ducks' most improved player. She hit 50 percent of her field goals and 37 percent of her three-pointers.

Poe is a 5-8 sophomore from Enumclaw. As a freshman she started 10 of 27 games, averaging 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds. Jenny is the younger sister of Kristin Poe, who will be a fifth-year senior for Seattle Pacific. In all, there are three former Enumclaw players on next year's roster: the Poe sisters and freshman guard Beth Christensen.

Seattle Pacific was 29-1 and Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion in 2002-03 under Coach Gordy Presnell. The Falcons lost three starters and earlier Presnell had signed freshmen recruits Christensen, Tara Jacob (Edmonds, Wa./Meadowdale) and Rachel Strand (Shoreline, Wa./King's).
