LA MIRADA, Calif. (Aug. 30) -- Sarah Melby
scored twice, once in each half, as Seattle Pacific University
extended its women's soccer unbeaten streak to 13 games with a 2-0
non-conference win over Biola Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons (2-0-0), who have not lost since
Sept. 25 of last year, won their 11th straight, dating back to
last season. They visit Cal State Dominguez Hills Monday night.
The Toros 1-1 draw at Seattle last year preceded the current win
skein.
Biola, which was playing its first game, is now
0-1-0.
Melby (Jr., Mukilteo, Wa./Kamiak) opened the
scoring in the 36th minute, lofting a 30-yard drive high into the
net over Eagles keeper Hilary Dunham. Melby made it 2-0 with less
than 18 minutes remaining, converting a corner kick from Allison
Teague (So., Redmond, Wa./Bellevue Christian).
Jennifer Hull (Jr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) was
required to make one relatively easy save to earn her second
consecutive shutout. SPU finished with a 10-4 edge in shots and
9-3 in corner kicks. Seattle Pacific played without regular
starters Katie Lim and Heidi Jacobson, both injured in Thursday's
4-0 win at Cal State L.A.
