2003 Men's Soccer Schedule
SEATTLE (July 30) - As is their tradition, the
Seattle Pacific University men's soccer team will spend much of
the first month on the road and finish with a lengthy home stand
next fall.
Cliff McCrath, who enters his 34th season
needing five wins to become the collegiate career leader in wins,
could achieve that milepost as early as Sept. 11, but it won't be
easy. The Falcons play their first six games on the road,
including bouts with perennial powers Cal State Dominguez Hills
Aug. 30 and Cal State Bakersfield Sept. 6.
SPU will open its home schedule on Interbay
Stadium's new FieldTurf playing surface Sept. 19. The highlight of
the nine-game home schedule is a Sept. 27 date with defending NCAA
Division II champion Sonoma State. The regular season concludes
with a five-game home stand during which the Falcons play all
three of their Great Northwest Athletic Conference home games,
plus a Senior Night encounter with UC Davis Nov. 7.
Seattle Pacific is bidding to return to the
NCAA playoffs for the first time in three years, and McCrath
expects to have the nucleus of his 11-6-2 team back, including
all-GNAC picks Michael Brkich, Brent Egbert, Ross Vaillancourt,
Nick Letts, Jeremy Yerkes and David Smith.
