SEATTLE (June 2) - Two of the top 800-meter
runners at the state 4A track & field championships-Jennifer
Marsh of Juanita High School and Eddie Strickler of Richland-have
signed national letters of intent at Seattle Pacific University.
Marsh, a resident of Kirkland, took sixth place
after running a season-best time of 2:17.8 in midseason. She was
eighth in the state 400 and ran on the state champion 4 x 100relay
as a sophomore.
Strickler placed sixth in the boys 800 and also
ran on the third-place 1600 relay.
In addition to Marsh, SPU Coach Jack Hoyt has
signed Kelsey Cooley of Missoula's Hellgate. Cooley was the
Montana high jump champion a year ago. In all, eight recruits have
committed, including Everett's Sharon Bjella, the state 4A
runner-up in the high jump, and Danae Clark, of Hillsboro's
Glencoe, the Oregon runner-up in the long jump.
Seattle Pacific finished tied for 16th among
women's teams at the NCAA Division II Championships last month.
