SEATTLE (May 29) - Nick Westendorf, the top
scorer for Vancouver's Evergreen High School, has signed a
scholarship agreement to play soccer at Seattle Pacific University
beginning this fall.
Westendorf was named the Greater St. Helens
League offensive co-MVP after helping Evergreen win its third
title in four years in 2003. He scored 11 goals and added 11
assists this season for the Plainsmen, who advanced to the West
Central Bi-District playoffs.
Westendorf's club, Westside Metros, coached by
John Bain, won the Oregon state cup in both 2002 and '03. They now
advance to the regional tournament in Hawaii.
Westendorf is the third recruit signed by Coach
Cliff McCrath. SPU, a five-time NCAA Division II champion, returns
eight starters from a team which went 11-6-2 last season.
