Pair of SPU Gymnasts Make Academic All-District

SEATTLE (May 22) - Seattle Pacific University gymnasts Rachael Anderson and Corrie McDaniel have each been voted to the Verizon Academic All-District VIII at-large team.

Anderson (Sr., Yakima, Wa./West Valley), who placed third nationally in the vault, is a biology major with a 3.58 grade point average. She was also third in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation meet on vault and made the academic all-MPSF selection.

McDaniel (So., Lawrence, Ks.) finished fifth in the all-around at the national championships for the second year in a row. She is a classics major with a 3.69 GPA. She made the all-MPSF team on floor exercise and also the academic all-conference team.

Both Anderson and McDaniel are now under consideration for the Verizon Academic All-America team, to be determined next month.
