SEATTLE (May 19) - Molly Hornbuckle, one of the
state's top javelin throwers from Burien's Highline High School,
has signed a national letter of intent to compete in track &
field for Seattle Pacific University.
Hornbuckle won the Seamount League title in the
javelin last week and earlier this month took first place at the
Lake Washington Invitational with a throw of 132 feet. She
qualified for the state 3A meet as a junior.
Her coach, Jerry Bamburg, was an All-America
runner at Seattle Pacific in the late Sixties.
Seattle Pacific has won three conference titles
in the past four years and competes in the NCAA Division II
Championships beginning Thursday in Edwardsville, Ill.
