SEATTLE (May 16) - Chad Williams, a 6-foot-8
forward from Whatcom Community College, has signed a scholarship
agreement to play basketball for Seattle Pacific University next
season.
Williams averaged 12.6 points and 6.9 rebounds
as a freshman for the Orcas last season when they went 22-7 and
won the North Division of the Northwest Athletic Association of
Community Colleges (NWAACC). He was a redshirt at Central
Washington during the 2000-01 season.
Williams is a graduate of Burlington-Edison
High, where he averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds to earn
all-state honors as a senior in 2000.
Williams is the third recruit signed by Seattle
Pacific coach Jeff Hironaka, who lost six seniors, including four
starters, to graduation. Drew Matzen of Lynnwood High and Ralph
Steele of Citrus Junior College (Ca.) committed earlier this
month. The Falcons, who have made the NCAA Division tournament
five of the past six years, were 16-11 and finished third in the
Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
