SEATTLE (May 13) -- Paul Mach was plucked off
the qualifier list in the 400-meter hurdles and will join five
Seattle Pacific University women who also earned official
invitations to next week's NCAA Division II Track & Field
Championships.
Mach (Jr., Seattle, Wa./King's) received the
19th and final entry in his event. His time of 52.91 seconds is
No. 2 in school history and he won four of six races this season,
including his second straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference
title.
Completing the Falcons' cast of official
entries in the national meet are Danielle Ayers-Stamper (Fr.,
LaCrosse, Wa.) in the heptathlon, Sarah Kraybill (Sr., Seattle,
Wa./Ballard) in the 800, Josie Lavin (So., Bremerton, Wa.) in the
1500, Ally Studer (Jr., Redmond, Wa.) in the pole vault and Laura
Widman (Sr., Colfax, Wa.) in the heptathlon.
Ayers-Stamper owns the second-highest
heptathlon score (5024) while Widman (4771), a four-time
qualifier, was 11th. Kraybill is No. 3 (2:09.19) in the 800, an
event in which she placed fourth at the NCAA indoor meet in March.
She also qualified in the 800 a year ago and in the 400 as a
freshman. Lavin was No. 6 on the final 1500 declaration list and
Studer, a three-time All-America both indoors and outdoors, was
No. 5 in the pole vault.
Just missing the cut were high jumper Dianna
Grossglass (Fr., LaConner, Wa.) and pole vaulter Allie Hedges
(Fr., Richland, Wa.). Grossglass' best height of 5-6 1/2 missed
the cutoff by a quarter-inch and Hedges, with a season-best vault
of 11-9, came up 1 inch short.
The NCAA Championships are May 22-24 in
