SEATTLE (Apr. 25) - Drew Matzen, an
all-conference guard/forward and top scorer for Lynnwood High
School the past two seasons, has signed a national letter of
intent to play basketball for Seattle Pacific University next
season.
Matzen, a 6-foot-4 senior, averaged 16.9 points
for the Royals, who were eliminated in the district tournament. He
is the son of Steve Matzen, who played for Washington from
1977-80.
Matzen is the second recruit signed by Seattle
Pacific coach Jeff Hironaka, who lost six seniors, including four
starters, to graduation.
Ralph Steele, a 6-1 guard from Citrus Junior
College (Ca.) signed last week.
The Falcons, who have made the NCAA Division II
tournament five of the past six years, were 16-11 and finished
third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. |
