SEATTLE (April 30) - Kristin Janney, a state
champion triple-jumper from White Salmon (Wa.) High School, and
sprinter Kinyatta Leonhardt of Saint Vincent in Petaluma, Ca.,
have each signed a national letter of intent to compete in track &
field for Seattle Pacific University.
Janney was the top individual scorer at the
state 2A meet a year ago, winning the triple jump with a
meet-record mark (37-0 3/4), taking second in the long jump and
finishing fourth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Leonhardt finished among the top 10 of the
North Coast Sectional Championships in both the 100 and 200 last
spring. She is coming off season-best times in the 200 (26.16) and
400 (58.91) last week.
Seattle Pacific has won three consecutive
conference titles and competes in the Great Northwest Athletic
Conference Championships Saturday in Ellensburg.
