Triple-Jumper, Sprinter Commit to SPU Track and Field
April 30, 2003

SEATTLE (April 30) - Kristin Janney, a state champion triple-jumper from White Salmon (Wa.) High School, and sprinter Kinyatta Leonhardt of Saint Vincent in Petaluma, Ca., have each signed a national letter of intent to compete in track & field for Seattle Pacific University.

Janney was the top individual scorer at the state 2A meet a year ago, winning the triple jump with a meet-record mark (37-0 3/4), taking second in the long jump and finishing fourth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Leonhardt finished among the top 10 of the North Coast Sectional Championships in both the 100 and 200 last spring. She is coming off season-best times in the 200 (26.16) and 400 (58.91) last week.

Seattle Pacific has won three consecutive conference titles and competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships Saturday in Ellensburg.
