Kraybill Runs Division II's No. 2 Time But Win Streak Ends at Eugene
April 26, 2003

EUGENE, Ore. (Apr. 26) Sarah Kraybill of Seattle Pacific University ran the second-fastest 800 meters of the season in NCAA Division II yet her five-race win streak was snapped by Washington's Courtney Inman at the Oregon Invitational Saturday night at Hayward Field.

Kraybill (Sr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard) moved through the pack on the second and final lap to nearly catch Inman and finish in 2 minutes, 9.19 seconds‹the No. 5 time in school history.

The Falcons also picked up their eighth and ninth provisional women's national qualifiers as both Josie Lavin (So., Bremerton, Wa./Bremerton) and Jamie Witt (So., Folsom, Ca.) ran season-best times.

Witt, after leading much of the way, was runner-up in the 5000 meters in 17:45.53 and Lavin, with a strong kick, finished sixth in the 1500 in a personal-best 4:38.67. Both will likely need to improve on those times to earn a berth at the NCAA Championships next month.

Other high placement for SPU were Ally Studer and Allie Hedges, who both tied for second in the pole vault (11-5 3/4), and Kelsey Gleason, who was fourth in the women's 400 hurdles in a PR and conference-best time of 1:04.84. Gusty winds and occasional rain made for difficult conditions during the daytime portion of the meet.
