Kraybill Extends Race Win Streak While Studer Breaks Record at Spike Arlt Invitational
April 19, 2003

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Apr. 19) -- Sarah Kraybill of Seattle Pacific University extended her unbeaten string to five races and teammate Ally Studer broke school stadium and meet records in the pole vault at the Spike Arlt Invitational track & field meet Saturday at Tomlinson Stadium.

The Falcon women, without multi-event standout Laura Widman, finished a close second to Western Oregon (152-149) in the team scoring while the men, getting their best 1600-meter relay time in three years, were sixth. In all, Seattle Pacific picked up nine victories, including eight by the women, plus an additional NCAA provisional qualifying mark by Dianna Grossglass in the high jump.

Kraybill (Sr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard), whose win streak includes an 800 and a 400 dash, won her fourth 1500 of the spring by a convincing 8.6 second margin in 4:41.8.

Studer (Jr., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) cleared 12 feet, 2 3/4 inches to break her own school mark of 12-2, set two years ago. The old stadium and meet records were 11-9. It was Studer's third win in the last four meets.

Grossglass (Fr., LaConner, Wa.) was Seattle Pacific's only double winner. She made the Div. II qualifier list with a high jump of 5-6 1/2 and also won the triple jump in her debut at 36-6 3/4 -- good for No. 5 all-time at SPU.

Other victors included Danielle Ayers-Stamper (Fr., LaCrosse, Wa.) in the long jump with a season-best of 18-7 3/4; Jennifer Pyeatt (Jr., Graham, Wa./Bethel) in the shot put with a conference and personal-best of 42-8 1/4; Kelsey Gleason (Fr., Salem, Or.) in the 400 hurdles (1:05.53); and Nicole Seana (Jr., Carnation, Wa.) in the 10,000 (42:00.0).

Paul Mach (Jr., Seattle, Wa./King's) figured in each of the top two men's performances. He anchored the 1600 relay which took second to Western Oregon (3:19.26) in3:20.00. It was second only to the school record of 3:19.73, set in 2000. Mach also provided his team's only win, running a PR of 1:53.94 in the 800.

Seattle Pacific will send a handful of men and women to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference multi-events championships in Monmouth, Or., Thursday. Other select athletes will participate in the Oregon Invitational in Eugene Saturday.
