Five Gymnasts Make Academic All-MPSF Squad

SEATTLE (Apr. 16) -- Five Seattle Pacific University gymnasts have been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) academic all-conference team.

The Falcons' selections were Corrie McDaniel (So., Lawrence, Ks.), Rachael Anderson (Sr., Yakima, Wa./West Valley), Courtney Amonsen (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Inglemoor), Jennifer Christman (Jr., Fairfield, Ca./Benicia) and Elisabeth Kingsley (So., Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison).

McDaniel is a classics major with a 3.72 grade point average, which was fourth among all 27 selections. She and Amonsen (3.14, accounting), Anderson (3.5, biology), Christman (3.17, biology) and Kingsley (3.50, visual arts) are all first-time selections.

Only Alaska Anchorage, with eight, had more honorees.

SPU competes at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships beginning Thursday in Denton, Tx.
